Vibrating Wire Strain Gauges(Embedment Type)

Type VWS-EM vibrating wire embedded strain gauge can be buried in beam piles, pile foundations, supports, hydraulic structures, linings, piers and bedrock of various concrete structures for a long time to monitor its stress and strain. The build-in temperature sensor can simultaneously measure the temperature of the measure point, which is used for temperature correction of the embedded strain gauge. The biggest advantage of the vibrating wire strain gauge is that the sensor is simple in structure, reliable in operation, the output signal is a frequency signal, and the frequency output is not affected by electrical noise, and it can be transmitted for several kilometers without losing the signal. The sensor is mainly used for strain measurement inside concrete structures such as buildings, bridges, highways, railways, subways, tunnels,dams, foundation piles, etc.
Overview
The vibrating wire embedded strain gauge is mainly composed of left and right end supports, steel strings and excitation coils. When the measured structure is strained, the left and right end supports of the vibrating wire strain gauge produce relative displacement and transmit it to the steel string, so that the force on the steel string changes, thereby changing the natural frequency of the steel string. The measuring instrument outputs a pulse or sweep frequency excitation signal, excites the steel string through the coil and detects the vibration frequency of the steel string induced by the coil. The square of the vibration frequency is proportional to the strain of the strain gauge, and the strain of the measured structure is obtained through conversion.
